The 1747-AIC/isolated link coupler is inclusive of the Allen Bradley PLC SLC 500 series. The purpose of this unit is to connect SLC 500 devices to the DH-485 network. It is equipped with 6 position of removable blocks for connecting to the DH-485 communication cable, with the connection cable types being shielded-twisted-pair as well as open type. Installation of a link coupler is necessary for every node on the network.
 
The 1747-AIC also provides room for additional link couplers in case more nodes are added in the future. The installation of an additional link must be done during the first installation to prevent recabling when the network is in operation.
 
The length limit for a 1747-AIC communication cable is exactly 1219 meters (4000 feet) and is the full distance between the first and the last nodes on the network. The current load for this unit is 0.085 A at 24 Volts DC (Direct Current), and it can operate at an average temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
 
The 1747-AIC isolated link coupler provides network connections to an SLC 500 processor that corresponds to the part number 1742-C1 and has 308.4 millimeters as its length.  The standard part 1747-C10, having a cable length of 1.8 meters or 6 feet, supplies network connection to the 1742-PIC, the 1747-DTAM-E and the 1747-PT1. The 1747-AIC has estimated dimensions of 1.5 x 6.8 x 6.5 inches and generally uses a terminal for identification.
